Art of Sound soundware in National Theatre Prague.


The Art of Sound company exclusively co-operates with National Theatre Prague. We provide soundware development and consultancy services for more than 20 operas, ballets and theatrical performaces since 2003.

The Art of Sound custom-made sound programs and setups designed for Kurzweil K2600X and Kurzweil PC3K synthesizers have been used in following performances:


Enchantia

When the British writer Gerald Durrell’s book The Talking Parcel was published in 1974, he unveiled to his readers Mythologia, a wondrous realm in which mythical beings and animals live, marvellous plants grow, a land governed by unusual natural laws. Several decades later a team  headed by Marko Ivanović and Petr and Matěj Forman decided to continue in Durrell’s research. In the underground of the National Theatre they discovered
a secret gate to Mythologia, which they named Enchantia...




King Lear

The tragedy of a king who is not able to recognise true love. King Lear, a wise and revered man descending into madness. The tragedy of a daughter who loves her father too much. The tragedy of a land in which intrigue does away with the ruler’s reason. The Elizabethan genius elevated the fairy tale to great drama.




Les Enfants Terrible - Children Of The Game

The oeuvre of the American composer Philip Glass is among the most interesting to be found in classical music of the late 20th century. The basis for this opera was a Jean Cocteau work expressing his belief in the transcendental power of imagination and creativity.




The Threepenny Opera

This classic work of the 20th century, based on Gay’s 18th-century classic The Beggar’s Opera, is a kind of eternal comedy of capitalism. The play will be staged with Kurt Weill’s original and world-famous music.




A Walk Worthwhile

A Walk Worthwhile - The “jazz” opera originally staged by Prague's subversive Semafor Theater in the 1960s. Directed by Milos Forman (Amadeus, Man On The Moon, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The People vs. Larry Flint, Valmont, etc.).




Romeo and Juliet

A ballet performance created by world-known choreographer Youri Vamos. Romeo and Juliet do not meet in Capulet's Palace in Verona. They roam in the backyard alleys of an unnamed Italian city at the begining of the 30s, exactly the same period in which Sergei Prokofiev was inspired to create his best-known work.




Montezuma La Conquista

Montezuma - The emperor of the Indian tribe of Aztecs in Mexico. In the early sixteenth century the conquest of America progressed into that region, where the Spanish armies headed by Hernán Cortés came into conflict with the Aztecs.




Krapp´s  - Last Tape

Krapp's Last Tape is a one-act play, by Samuel Beckett. With a cast of one man, first titled "Magee monologue". It was inspired by Beckett's experience of listening to Magee reading extracts from Molloy and from an Abandoned Work on the BBC Third Programme.




Adriana Lecouvreur

Adriana Lecouvreur is an opera by Francesco Cilea based on the play Adrienne Lecouvreur by Eugène Scribe and Ernest Legouvé.




Man and Boy: Dada

Man and Boy: Dada is an opera by Michael Nyman on a libretto by Michael Hastings. It tells the story of a friendship between aging dada artist Kurt Schwitters and a twelve-year-old boy.




La Belle et la Bête - The Beauty and The Beast

Unique minimalistic opera by american composer Philip Glass - La Belle et la Bête (The Beauty and The Beast). The music was originally writen for the Jean Cocteau movie.




The Death of Klinghoffer

The Death of Klinghoffer is an American opera. The story is based on the real hijacking of the Italian luxury cruise ship Achille Lauro and the murder of one of its passenger-hostages, Leon Klinghoffer, who is bound to a wheelchair. The music is written by John Adams.
